Introduction

The Christmas Day Dinner, hosted by The Knights of St. Columbanus, held at the RDS is open and welcoming to all guests that are homeless, lonely and poor. We invite you all to our annual Christmas Day Dinner, hosted between 10.30am and 1pm on the 25th of December.

The annual Christmas Day Dinner is a celebration for everyone. All guests will be served a tasty three course traditional Christmas dinner with refreshments, whilst being entertained by special musical guests, including the volunteer’s choir and an opportunity to pull a cracker or tell a joke with your table guests. You will all also receive a gift bag full of festive goodies before you leave.

We really look forward to seeing you all on Christmas Day, spending time with you and enjoying the festivities. Please spread the word to people in need.

Q. Do I need to register to attend the Christmas Day Dinner?
A. No, our doors are open to everyone on Christmas Day. We look forward to welcoming you all.

Q. Who is able to attend?
A. We welcome everyone – individuals, groups, families. There is special section for families with
gifts for the children.

Q. What time is the Christmas Day Dinner at?
A. Our doors are open from 10.30am until 1pm

Q. Is there an entrance fee?
A. No, there is no charge. Admission is completely free! You are our guests, and we would be
delighted to welcome you.

Q. What happens at the Christmas Day Dinner in the RDS?
A. We create a special Christmas banquet hall atmosphere in one of the main halls of the RDS.
Everyone will be welcomed on their arrival, served a traditional three-course Christmas dinner with
light refreshments, whilst listening to special musical guests.

Q. How can I get to the RDS?
A. If you are coming from Dublin City Centre, there will be free buses, running every 20 minutes,
between 9.30am and 11.30am, at the following pick up locations:
– Mansion House, Dawson Street
– Clery’s Clock, O’Connell Street
– Four Courts, Inns Quay

Q. Will there be buses to return to the City Centre
A. Yes, buses will begin to return from 1pm and final bus from the RDS to the City Centre is at 2pm

Q. Do you provide meals for Vegetarian / Vegan / Coeliacs?
A. All our meals include turkey and are created by our Chefs in the same kitchen area. If you have

dietary / allergen requirements, please let our volunteer table hosts know. While we will do our best to
accommodate you, unfortunately we cannot accommodate any strict dietary requirements.

Q. What refreshments will be served?
A. Each table will be set up to serve tea, coffee, water, soft drinks. Limited light alcoholic
refreshments will also be served.

Q. Who will be creating and serving the dinner?
A. All our chefs, table servers and table hosts are volunteers from all over Ireland, who have
registered to volunteer through the Christmas Day Dinner website, and who have attended an
induction briefing on health and safety issues before the event.
